Northland falls to cross-town rivals

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Superior 51-74 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action Saturday evening in Superior, Wis.

The Yellowjackets started on a six-point run before Drew Lindberg broke up the scoring with a three. Stephen Kesti followed that up with a jumper in the paint to make it a one-point game. Jordan Brennan's first basket tied the game and on the next trip down the court gave the Jacks their first lead with a three. UWS took the lead back but Northland kept them in its sight. With seven minutes to play, Lindberg hit his second three of the half to put NC on top 21-20. The final stretch of the half the Yellowjackets had their largest lead at 11 before half.

It did not take long for UW-Superior to balloon its lead to over 20 points as the Jacks were unable to match the pace of the Yellowjackets. After trailing big Northland was unable to bring the lead under 20 and lost 74-51.

The Jacks spread the ball out for scoring with 10 student-athletes landing on the score sheet. Brennan led the scoring with 10 points. Behind the senior was Lindberg with seven and Langston Flowers and Kesti with six. Brennan also led the team in assists with four.

Northland grabbed 20 rebounds with Brennan and Kesti combining for half. The Jacks had six steals coming from Flowers with a pair, Brennan, Kesti, Jahlani Thornton and Damian Cejka all had one. Lindberg sent a shot back for Northland's only block.
