ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team was defeated 74-59 by the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday evening in Ashland, Wis. Senior
Langston Flowers led the team with a season-high 19 points.

The game started with a few traded baskets before
Drew Lindberg gave Northland the lead with a three-pointer. Flowers and
Jahlani Thornton added to the lead with points in the paint. Flowers capped off a nine-point run with a pair of free throws to give NC a seven-point lead. The Yellowjackets tied the game at 15 all after Evan Bennett hit a triple. UWS started to crawl away but Northland kept close on their heels. UW-Superior went on a 10-to-2 run to go up double-figures in the final minutes of the half.

Starting the second half the Jacks kept pace with the Yellowjackets to not let their lead grow. At the 11 minute-mark UWS pulled to 20 point ahead after a three-pointer. Northland started the chip away from the lead with a layup from
Damian Cejka and a triple and jumper from Flowers to pull within 11. Northland could not cut the lead to under double-figures and the Yellowjackets to continued to make their free throws to win 74-59.

The Yellowjackets did a lot of damage from the free throw line going 30-for-36 to come away with the win.

Northland shot 25-of-65 (38.5%) from the field, 4-of-20 (20%) from three and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe. Leading the scoring was Flowers with a season-high 19 points. Thornton and Brennan finished behind him with seven points. Flowers also led the team in assists with five.

UW-Superior outrebounded Northland 28-to-24. Thornton had a big game on the glass with seven rebounds. Flowers finished behind him with five. The Jacks had six steals with Thornton and
Marvin McBroom totaling two.

The Jacks play their last home game next week when they host the University of Northwestern on Friday and North Central University on Saturday,
