LumberJack Baseball Sweep Maranatha Baptist

MAUSTON, Wis.--- In consecutive days, the LumberJack Baseball team traveled back to Mauston, WI to take on Maranatha Baptist in a non-conference double header at the Woodside Sports Complex. The Jacks came away victorious, winning 3-0 and 7-5 and are now 7-2 in their last 9 games. 

Game 1

In game one, Aidan Hernandez got the start on the mound for the Jacks. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 5th inning before the LumberJacks were finally able to break through as Ridge Guyette reached on an error, scoring Hunter Wicklund and Jay Harris to make it 2-0. In the 6th, Peyton Solberg hit a sac fly to right field, scoring Kazdion Mount to extend the LumberJack lead to 3-0. Jack Kelly, who came in for relief in the top of the 4th, shut the door on the mound to give the Jacks the 3-0 win in game one. 

Hernandez picked up his first win of the season on the mound today for the Jacks going 3.0 innings, giving up 0 runs off of 4 hits and struck out two batters. Kelly pitched 4.0 innings of relief, only allowing 1 hit and struck out 6 batters. 

Game 2

In game two, Kazdion Mount hit the mound for the Jacks. The LumberJacks opened the scoring in the bottom of the third as Caden Willis singled through the left side, scoring Blake Richard. Later in the inning, Anthony Boyle reached on an error, scoring Richard to make it 2-0. Boyle was then able to steal second and Willis stole home to give the Jacks the 3-0 cushion. After a Marnatha run in the top of the 4th the LumberJacks scored runs in the bottom of the 4th and 6th innings as Keaton Arreazola and Boyle had rbi hits to extend the LumberJack lead to 7-1. Maranatha tried to rally in the 7th, scoring three runs but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks came away victorious 7-5 to earn the sweep. 

Mount went the distance on the mound for the Jacks going 7.0 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 7 hits and struck out 6 batters. 

Keaton Arreazola, Zach Ross and Blake Richard each had two hits in the game two. 

The Jacks will have some much needed days off before they resume UMAC action on Monday (April 10th) in Mauston, WI at the Woodside Sports Complex against Martin Luther College in a double header. Game one is scheduled to start at 2pm.
