Jills Pick Up Important UMAC Win Over Martin Luther

MORRIS, Minn.--- The Northland College Softball team traveled to Morris, MN today for game one of their three game UMAC cross-over games on the campus of Minnesota Morris. The Jills took on Martin Luther College today and came away with the important conference win, winning 11-4.

Ariana Wilson got the Jills on the board in the bottom of the first inning, hitting an rbi single, scoring Janna Bode to give the Jills the early lead. MLC tied the game in the bottom of the second before the Jills exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second as Lenisa Tomasini and Alison Murphy each had 2 rbi singles, to make the score 5-1. The Jills extended their lead in the third inning as Kaylee Harnack singled to right field, scoring Tomasini. Elizabeth Peters tripled in the fourth inning, scoring Murphy and Hailey Minnema later singled to left field, scoring Peters to extend the Jills lead to 8-1. The Jills added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings as Murphy, Bode and McKenna Freerksen collected rbi hits as the Jills rolled to victory, winning today 11-4 over Martin Luther. 

Kayla Preisler pitched 7.0 in the circle today for the Jills, giving up 3 earned runs on 11 hits. 

Bode, Harnack and Murphy led the LumberJills at the plate, each collecting 3 hits. 

The Jills continue their weekend games in Morris at the UMAC cross-over as they take on Bethany Lutheran (10AM) and UW-Superior (2pm).
