LumberJacks Win Streak Snapped at Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.--- The Northland College Baseball team traveled to St. Bonifacius, MN this afternoon for a UMAC doubleheader. The Jacks fell in both games by scores of 17-6 and 15-12, snapping their 5 game winning streak. 

Game 1

Ridge Guyette opened the scoring for the Jacks in game one with an rbi single, scoring Zach Ross to make it 1-0. Crown tied the game in the bottom of the first and slowly started to build their lead, scoring 3 runs in the second, two in the 3rd and two more in the 4th to lead the Jacks, 8-1. The Jacks exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 5th as Zach Ross continued his strong start of the season with a grand slam home run to make it 8-5. Later in the inning, Andy Linder hit a sac fly, scoring Guyette to make an 8-6 ball game. Unfortunately, the Jacks couldn't slow down the bats from Crown as they went on to score runs in the 6th and 7th innings to take game one, 17-6 over the Jacks. 

Anthony Boyle, Matthew Traeger and Claudio Aguilar each saw time on the mound for the Jacks in game one. 

Guyette and Jay Harris led all LumberJacks with two hits. 

Game 2

Guyette opened the scoring again for the Jacks in game two, with a sac fly to right field, scoring Keaton Arreazola to give the Jacks the 1-0 lead. Crown was able to take the lead, scoring in the second and third innings to lead the Jacks 4-1. The Jacks tied the game in the 4th as Andy Linder, Anthony Boyle and Tyler Murphy had rbi's to make it 4-4. The LumberJack bats continued to tay alive in the 5th and 6th innings, scoring 7 runs as both Guyette and Boyle homered in the 5th and Matt Simpson and Hunter WIcklund collected rbi hits as the Jacks led 11-5. Unfortunately, the Crown bats continued to stay hot as they scored runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings to lead 15-11. The rally caps were on for the Jacks in the top of the 9th as Keaton Arreazola hit a sac fly to right field, scoring Parker Williams but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks fell in game two, 15-12. 

Murphy and Linder led the Jacks two hits. 

Kazdion Mount, Grant McCurry, Vinny Triccoli, Aidan Hernadez and Peyton Solberg each saw time on the mound for the Jacks in game two. 

The Jacks will close out their weekend series with Crown tomorrow (April 15th) in St. Bonficaius for a single 9 inning game. Game time is set to start at 10:30am.
