The Northland College Baseball team closed out their 2023 Florida Spring Trip this afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational, beating Gordon College in a comeback win 10-7.

After trailing 2-0 early, the Jacks were able to get on the board as Tyler Murphy stole third and scored off of a throwing error to make it 2-1. Gordon added runs in the top of the 4th and 5th innings before Ridge Guyette hammered a double down the left field line, scoring Murphy and Keaton Arreazola to make it 4-3. Later in the inning, Caden Willis hit a sac fly to center field, scoring Guyette to tie the game 4-4. The Jacks took their first lead in the game in the bottom of the 7th inning as Willis drew the bases loaded walk, scoring Arreazola to make it 5-4 for the Jacks. During a brief rain delay in the 8th, Gordon was able to rally, bringing in three runs to retake the lead 7-5. The bats of the LumberJacks exploded in the bottom of the 8th as Zach Ross, Hunter Wicklund and Guyette each collected rbi hits as the Jacks were able to bring home 5 runs to make it 10-7. Vinny Troccoli took the mound in the 9th and shut the door to give the Jacks their first win of the 2023 season 10-7 over Gordon. 

Tyler Murphy, Keaton Arreazola, Zach Ross, and Ridge Guyette each collected 3 hits to lead the Jacks at the plate. 

The Jacks are back in action this Thursday as they travel to Minneapolis, MN for a double header against Marian University at the US Bank Stadium. Game 1 is set to start at 12:00pm.
