MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Northland College Volleyball team fell in both its matches on Saturday afternoon in the Twin Cities in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Jills started their day against North Central University and fell in three sets (21-25, 16-25, 15-25), then they faced No. 4 the University of Northwestern and fell 0-3 ( 4-25, 15-25, 14-25).

The LumberJills started their day with the Rams and fell in three sets. In set one, Northland scored the first four points with
Bailey Wynn recording a kill in the string of points. NCU tied the set up at 7-7 after scoring from the serve. The next 12 points were split keeping the at through 13-13. The Rams scored the next point and kept the lead until winning the set 25-21. Set two, was mostly in favor of the Rams. Northland had one lead in the set at 6-5 off a kill from
Britta Josephson assisted by
Kodie Rempp. The rest of the set went the way of the NCU winning 25-16. The final set went similarly to the second but the only lead the Jills had was 1-0 coming from
Ellie Kracht. The closest Northland got late in the set was 8-7 but were unable to take to lead again. The Rams won the final set 25-15.

Wynn led the Jills in the first match with nine kills. The LumberJills recorded 29 kills off 123 attacks, converting .065 of the attempts. Behind Wynn was freshman Josephson with seven.
Alexa Zadra had one attack in the match and scored off it. Rempp set up 14 of the Jills' points with
Megan Van Gheem behind her at 13. Zarda recorded a team-high three service aces- and Van Gheem had the other one.

Defensively Zadra tallied 15 digs to lead Northland against the Rams. Wynn was one behind her at 14 as she inches closer to 1,000 career digs. The Jills had one block coming from
Shelby Justman and Elizbeth Montgomery.

After coming off a loss the Jills were faced with the red-hot Eagles of Northwestern. In set one Wynn was the one LumberJill to record a kill in the 4-25 set. Set two went a little better for Northland. The Jills kept up with the Eagles for a little bit. Zadra pulled Northland within one early after a service ace. Later in the set Wynn and Kracht scored back-to-back kills for the third time in the set Northland scored two in a row. UNW powered through winning the second set 25-15. The final set started with a Northland point coming from a kill from Montgomery. After a kill from Wynn and an error by the Eagles made the score 6-7 for the Jills. That's the closest Northland would get to the lead for the rest of the set. UNW would win the final set 25-14.

Wynn led the offense with seven kills and the defense with 10 digs. After the pair of matches, Wynn is eight digs away from reaching 1,000 digs. Montgomery and Josephson were the only other student-athletes with multiple kills at three and two respectively. Rempp had seven assists in the match with Van Gheem behind her at five. Coming off the serve Zadra and Wynn recorded an ace. Zadra matched Wynn with 10 digs in the match. The Jills had one block coming from an assisted block from Wynn and Montgomery.

The Jills return home next week as they host Crown College at 7 p.m., on Friday.
