The North Central Women's Basketball team used 33 points off the bench to defeat the LumberJills 71-57.
Box Score
The Northland College Women's Basketball team returned home for game one of a conference weekend series on Friday night, hosting North Central University. The Rams were able to jump out to a nine point lead after the first quarter. They used a significant contribution from their bench to grow the lead over the rest of the game. Ram non-starters combined for 33 points in the contest. The LumberJills outscored the Rams in the fourth quarter thanks to some tough, full-court defensive pressure. But the effort proved to be too little, too late as the Rams came away with the 71-57 victory.
Alex Espinoza (El Paso, Texas) tallied 18 points, 7 boards and 6 assists on the night, leading the Jills in all three categories. She, also, finished with a game-high four steals.
Kodie Rempp (Harrison, Neb.) added 16 points on 5-of-10 from the three-point line.
Northland (5-9, 1-5 UMAC) will be back in action on Saturday evening as they complete the weekend home-series with a matchup with Northwestern. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM at the Kendrigan Center.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
