HANCOCK, MI--- The Northland College Volleyball team traveled to Hancock, MI this evening to take on Finlandia University in a non-conference matchup. The Jills would win in four sets over the Lions, collecting the 3-1 victory. (25-19, 22-25, 25-12, 27-25)

The Jills came out firing on all cylinders in the first set, going on 5- 3 point runs to take the set 25-19. In the second, the Jills looked to take the commanding 10-4 lead early but Finlandia tied the set up at 21-21 and would eventually go on to take the final 4 points to tie the match up 1-1. The Jills responded in a big way in the third, after an
Ellie Kracht kill, the Jills took the commanding 18-10 lead and would win set 3 25-12. After a
Shelby Justman kill late in the fourth set, the Jills took the 19-15 lead. Finlandia however took 3 straight points to tie the match at 24-24. The Jills would win the set after back to back kills from Justman and
Bailey Wynn to take the set 27-25 and the match 3-1 over the Lions.Â
The Jills were led by
Larissa Fossum (16),
Bailey Wynn (16) and
Shelby Justman (15), finishing with 47 kills between the three of them.
Rachel Callow collected 41 assists in tonight's win and
Alexa Zadra had 26 digs.Â
The Jills are back in action this Friday (Sep 30th) as they host Crown College at the Kendrigan Center in Ashland. Game time is set for 7pm. Â
