Superior, WI - The Northland College Lumberjacks dropped two games on the road on Tuesday afternoon against the UW-Superior Yellowjackets. Game one needed extra innings to decide a winner which the Yellowjackets ultimately won by a score of 9-8 in 11 innings. The Yellowjackets took a 9-3 win in game two.
The Jacks came out hot in game one and jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top half of the first inning that was highlighted by an
Anthony Boyle three run homerun. The Yellowjackets chipped away over the course of the game and finally tied it in the ninth, and were able to win it with two outs in the eleventh.
Garrett Warren had two hits in game one.
Christian Goodson got the start and allowed six earned runs over six innings of work.
The Jacks got off to a good start in game two and led 3-2 heading into the bottom half of the third, but the Yellowjackets responded with four runs in the third to take a 6-3 lead. From there, they added one more in the sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to take the 9-3 win.
Zach Ross had two hits in game two including a double.
Matthew Traeger came on in relief for the Jacks and allowed two earned runs over five innings of work.
The Jacks are in action on Thursday when they travel to Crown for a 3:00PM start.
