Minneapolis, MN - The Northland College Lumberjacks traveled to North Central University on Tuesday afternoon for a UMAC double header, and after falling in game one to the Rams by a score of 5-4, the Jacks prevailed in game two by a score of 19-17. The Jacks are now 2-6 in the UMAC while the Rams are 4-3.
The Jacks lost a heartbreaker in game one as the Rams won in the bottom of the ninth inning in walk-off fashion. The Jacks trailed early on but
Ridge Guyette evened things up in the top half the seventh inning with a two run home run. After a scoreless eighth inning, the Rams were able to hold off the Jacks in the top half of the ninth before scoring the game winning run in the bottom half. Guyette finished with three RBI's in the game. Zach Nelson was charged with the loss for the Jacks. Nelson pitched the entire game for his team and struck out ten over 8.1 innings of work.
Game two was an offensive showcase as both teams combined for 36 runs and 34 hits. The Jacks opened up a 17-7 lead in the first half of the sixth inning but the Rams battled back and brought the score within one run by the start of the seventh. The Jacks scored two more runs in the top half of the ninth inning to take a 19-16 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Rams scored one and had the tying run at second base and the winning run on first, but the Jacks
Christian Goodson was able to get Nicolas Sheley to fly out to center field to give his team the win.
Seth Hackbarth earned the win for the Jacks.

Matt Simpson all had three hits each in game two for the Jacks.
The Jacks return to action on Friday when they travel to Bethany Lutheran College.
