Jills Continue Play in Florida Against Muskingum and Johnson & Wales

LEGENDS WAY, FL--- The Northland College Softball team continued their Spring trip today in Legends Way, FL against Muskingum University and Johnson & Wales University. The Jills would drop a close one late to Muskingum 4-0 and later fall in game two, 12-2 against Johnson and Wales. 

Game 1 

In game one against Muskingum, Sofia Garcia would get the start on the mound for the Jills. After a scoreless three innings between the two teams, it was Muskingum who opened the scoring in the bottom of the 4th, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Garcia led off the top of the 5th inning with a walk but the Jills were unable to get any runs around the horn to keep the score in favor of Muskingum 2-0. Muskingum later added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth inning to take the game 4-0 over the Jills. 

Garcia finished her day on the mound going 6.0 innings giving up 3 earned runs off of 6 hits. 

Kaylee Harnack, Jenna Reyes, Saylor Donnelly and Allison Kile each collected hits in game one for the Jills. 

Game 2

In game two vs. JWU, Ariana Wilson would get the nod on the hill for the Jills. JWU opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with three runs, jumping out to the early lead. Saylor Donnelly singled to left center in the bottom of the first for the Jills, scoring Kaylee Harnack to mak it 3-1. The bats from JWU would continue to stay hot, adding runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the 12-1 lead. Harnack would score her second run of the game in the bottom of the 5th, but it wouldn't be enough as JWU would go on to take the game 12-2 over the Jills. 

Harnack and Donnelly led all LumberJills in hitting, each collecting two hits in game two. 

The Jills will have an off day tomorrow but pick things back up on Wednesday (March 9) against Wittenberg University in Legends Way, FL. Game time is set to start at 9:30am (EST).
