Box Score

The Northland College Men's Basketball team returned to the court on Friday night as they hit the road for the conference opening weekend. First stop of the road trip for the LumberJacks was New Ulm, Minnesota to take on Martin Luther College. The Jacks turned a seven point halftime lead into a thirteen point win 65-52.

Northland didn't take their first lead until the 10:24 mark of the first half when Hunter Hannuksela grabbed an offensive board and made the put-back layup to give the Jacks a one point lead. Following a missed jumper from the Knights on the ensuing possession Hannuksela grabbed the defensive board and Kayden Palmi scored to put the Jacks up three. Martin Luther would tie the game again with 8:27 to go, before Kevon Powell's layup put the Jacks up for good.

The second half started with two missed free-throws and a turnover for the Knights. Simon Palmer stole the ball and Langston Flowers hit a jumper in the paint to open the scoring for Northland. The LumberJack defense held the Knights to 33.8% shooting on the night and never allowed them to get back within seven. Martin Luther was only able to shoot 14.3% from three-point territory. Eleven of the eighteen different LumberJacks who appeared in the contest scored. Jordan Brennen led Northland with 11 points, while Adam Billingsly and Hannuksela each grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
