SUPERIOR, Wis.--- The Northland College Volleyball team traveled to Superior, WI to open the UMAC conference season against UW-Superior. The Jills would drop the match, falling in three sets (19-25, 17-25, 16-25) against the YellowJackets.

In the first set, after trailing 11-7 the Jills rattled off four straight points to tie the set at 11. Later in the set, the Jills picked up a huge block from
Larissa Fossum and
Makenna Nelson to get them within two, trailing 16-18. UWS would later rattle off three straight points to close out the first set 25-19 over the Jills. In the second set, the Jills found themselves trailing only by one as
Annika Herlevi picked up a kill to make it 16-15 in favor of the YellowJackets, however UWS rattled off 5 straight points and eventually took the second set 25-17. Much like the first two sets, the Jills once again found themselves in a tight match after three attack errors from UWS to tie the set at 7-7.
Bailey Wynn later picked up a huge kill later in the set to make it 13-11 for UWS but two long stretches of four points would put the YellowJackets ahead and win the set 25-16 over the Jills.

Bailey Wynn (13) and
Larissa Fossum (13) led the Jills in digs.
Makenna Nelson collected 21 assists for the Jills.
The Jills continue UMAC conference play this weekend (Sep 24-25) as they travel to New Ulm, MN Friday and Mankato, MN Saturday to take on Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College.
