ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Baseball team hosted Minnesota Morris at LumberJack field today to close out the 2021 regular season. The Jacks also honored their 7 seniors on senior day, Eli Hart,
Devyn Becker,
Joseph Veit,
Adrian Bethel,
Noah Cross,
Rian Arreazola and
Shawn O'Connell. The Jacks would fall in both games to the Cougars by scores of 16-3 and 11-6.
Game 1
In game one,
Jesse Carmona would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. The Jacks would get on the board to open the scoring in the bottom of the first innings as
Noah Cross hamered a sac fly to center field, scoring
Jake Schramm to make it 1-0. The Cougars however would respond with runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the 10-1 lead.
Joseph Veit would score on a wild pitch and
Zach Ross later scored on an error to make it 10-3. The Cougars continued to add on runs and would go on to take game one, 16-3.
Jake Schramm led all LumberJack hitters in game one going 2X3.
Game 2
In game two,
Joel Eason would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. After the Cougars jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Jacks exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second as
Keaton Arreazola doubled down the right field line, scoring
Shawn O'Connell and
Adrian Bethel. Later in the inning,
Matt Simpson doubled down the left field line, scoring
Keaton Arreazola and
Joseph Veit.
Jake Schramm and
Noah Cross also collected rbi hits to give the Jacks the 6-2 lead. The Cougars however would slowly chip away at the LumberJack lead with runs in the third and 5th innings to make it 6-5. With the score 6-5 in the top of the 9th inning, the Cougars bats would once again come alive, scoring 6 runs to take the 11-6 lead. The Jacks wouldn't be able to get a rally of their own going in the bottom of the 9th and fell to the Cougars in game two by a final score of 11-6.

Matt Simpson each collected two hits in game two.
