New Ulm, MN-- The Northland College Volleyball team opened up UMAC play today as they traveled to New Ulm, MN to take on Martin Luther College. The Jills would come away victorious (17-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-22, 15-12), winning 3-2 over the Knights.

After dropping the first set 25-17 to the Knights, the Jills would respond in a big way as Justin Litherland would finish off the second set with back to back kills as the Jills would win set 2 26-24. After dropping the third set, the Jills would once again respond in the 4th frame as the Jills would go on a 6 point run to jump out to the 11-5 lead.
Autumn Ninke would slam a kill late in the match to close things off 25-22 to force the deciding 5th game. Martin Luther looked to be in control and on their way to take the match, jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the 5th set but once again the LumberJills would respond as
Nora Hagen would collect a kill to even the match 6-6. The Jills would finish off the Knights, scoring 3 straight points to take the match 15-12.
Justine Litherland would lead all LumberJills with 12 kills.
Nora Hagen would finish with 11 and
Larissa Fossum would finish with 10.
Makenna Nelson would have a strong day, finishing with 41 assists.
The Jills continue UMAC play this Thursday (March 11) vs. UW-Superior in Superior, WI. Game time is set for 7pm.
