Ashland, WI – The Northland College LumberJills took on the UW-Eau Claire BluGolds on Wednesday evening, and despite a spirited effort, the BluGolds were able to take home a 5-2 win.  With the win the BluGolds improved to 2-0-1 while the Jills dropped to 0-5. 
              Maddy Bloedel scored her first career goal for the Jills when she scored late in the first period.  After allowing an early goal in the second period, the Jills took advantage of a 5 on 3 power play late in the second when Karadyn Kiviaho found Mahteya Dumelie to bring the Jills back within one. 
              The Jills created several chances to even the game but ultimately the BluGolds would add two more, with the final being an empty net goal with 1:37 remaining.
              Soleil Archambeault made 40 saves in net for the Jills.  Both teams meet again on Friday in Eau Claire for the second and final game of their regular season series.
