Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Jacks Sink Vikings

Ashland, WI - The Northland College Lumberjacks picked up their second in in two days as they were able to beat the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings 77-69 on Saturday evening.

The game was back and fourth the entire way and featured several lead changes in both the first and second half.  The Jacks opened up an 11 point lead early in the first half, but the Vikings responded and took a seven point advantage into the break.

The Jacks tightened up their defense in the second half and Ryan Rawlings got hot from outside.  After a defensive stop the Jacks got the ball up two with 39 seconds left.  The Vikings decided to foul right away which sent George Butvilas to the line.  Butvilas hit both to give his team a four point lead.  With the clock winding down Brian Smith tried a three for the Vikings but was off the mark.  The rebound was grabbed by Jordan Brennan near half court, and after a foot race at the other end, he was fouled at the rim with 19 seconds remaining.  The Vikings picked up two technical fouls in the aftermath of the foul, which allowed Brennan to take six free throws to put the game out of reach for the Vikings.

The Jacks are now 2-0 in the UMAC while the Vikings drop to 1-1.

The Jacks are in action next on Tuesday when they travel to DI St. Thomas University. Â
