Ashland, WI-

The Northland College Men's Lacrosse team hosted Beloit College on Saturday for their home opener of the 2020 season. The Jacks would fall in a barn burner, 11-10.

Box Score

The Jacks would take immediate control to start the game as Bailey Lang would lead the Jacks with the first three goals of the game. Jakob Wohlford would add another one in the first as the Jacks would lead 4-1 early in this one. Beloit would respond however and keep the LumberJacks in check scoring three goals and the two teams would be tied heading in the second half.

After an early goal to open the second half by Beloit, it would be all LumberJacks in the third as Jakob Wohlford would net his second goal of the game at the 13:40 mark of the 3rd. He was assisted by Kenny Gudmonson. Minutes later, Tron Trondson would add back to back goals for the Jacks, making it a 7-5 game. Nick Anderson and Gudmonson would collect assists on the goals. Gudmonson would later join the scoring for the Jacks, scoring his first goal of the game as the Jacks would take an 8-5 lead. Wohlford would continue his strong start to the season with another goal to open the 4th but Beloit would respond with a goal of their own to make it a 9-7 game. With just under four minutes remaining and what seemed like a LumberJack victory, Beloit would score three straight goals to take the 10-9 lead. Beloit would add another goal just seconds later to go up two before Lang would score with just seconds remaining but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks would fall by a final score of 11-10.

Danny Gentile would make 19 saves for the Jacks.

The Jacks will travel to Anderson, IN on Tuesday (March 3) to take on Anderson University. Game time is set for 6pm (EST).
