Jills Can't Catch Green Knights

The Jills squared off against St. Norbert College today for their second NCHA matchup of the weekend against the Green Knights and their final game of the regular season.
 
The teams came out evenly matched to start the period as they would race up and down the ice trading shots with each other. The Jills pressured the Green Knights throughout the period, but couldn't get on the board. However, the Jills' strong defensive play would keep the Green Knights out of the net. They would go into the first intermission tied up at 0-0.
 
The defensive battle carried over into the second, as both teams would continue to struggle to get on the board. With 20 seconds remaining in the period, the Green Knights would break the scoreless tie and take the first lead of the game. The Jills continued to tally shots on goal, but wouldn't be able to tie it up before the end of the period. They went into the third down 1-0.
 
The Green Knights added to their lead in the third with 10:25 elapsed in the period. They would score again a few minutes later, taking a 3-0 lead over the Jills. The Jills kept attacking the net, but couldn't break through. The Green Knights would score two more times before the end of the game. The Jills would lose by a final score of 5-0.
 
Gabby Suhr finished the day with 19 saves.
 
The Jills finished the season tied with St. Norbert College with 15 points each. However, the tiebreaker would go to the Green Knights.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
