Moorhead, MN – The Lumberjills took on the Cobbers of Concordia in what would be a thriller of a game. Unfortunately, the Jills would up come up on the losing end.
In the first period, the Jills struck first at the 12:42 mark in the 1
st period, on a shot by
Michaela Isetts-Williams that would beat the Cobbers' Goaltender. Northland would continue to put the pressure on until the end of the period; however, the score would remain 1-0 in favor of Northland.
The 2
nd period would get off to a great start as well. The Jills would find the back of the net on a powerplay goal scored by
Allyson Reilly. The Jills kept the momentum going until Concordia snuck its way back into the game on a goal scored late in the 2
nd period.
The 3
rd period was action packed from the beginning. The Cobbers netted two goals in the 3
rd period to take the lead at 3-2 over Northland. However, the Lumberjills would not back down.
Allyson Reilly answered with two minutes remaining to notch the score up at 3 a piece.
The game would then head to overtime with the teams leveled at 3 goals each. Even though both teams battled extremely hard throughout the night, the Cobbers would prevail very quickly into overtime to put the score at 4-3.
The Lumberjills fall to (2-2) on the year and will play Concordia tomorrow at the Moorhead Sports Center, at 2PM, to cap off their two game weekend. Go Jills!
