Ashland, WI -

The Northland College LumberJills fell Wednesday evening to the Eagles of Northwestern at the Chapple Family Gymnasium in Ashland, WI.  The Eagles went to their size inside early on and took a quick 13-4 lead.  Another slow offensive start from the LumberJills allowed the Eagles to extend their lead to 18-6 after the first quarter.

Northland bounced back offensively in the second period to nearly match UNW's offensive output in the quarter, as the Eagles only outscored the LumberJills 18-6.  UNW forced 14 of Northland's 26 turnovers in the first half and took a 36-22 lead into the locker room at the break.  Northland had some early opportunities in the 3rd quarter to bring the lead to single digits, but the Eagles took the offensive reigns again and extended their lead to 62-40 after 3 quarters.

The LumberJills outscored the Eagles 15-14 in the last quarter, but UNW had already built a comfortable lead.  The final score was 76-55, with 33 of UNW's points coming off Northland College turnovers.  Amy Berglund led the Eagles with 17 points and Bryza Pisano led the LumberJills with 15.  Northland plays at Crown College on Saturday, January 5th.
