The Jills traveled to Duluth, MN today for their second game of the weekend against conference opponent the College of St. Scholastica Saints.
The Jills got on the board early in the first period as
Karadyn Kiviaho would score her first goal of her collegiate career off of a pass from
Saylor Donnelly to give the Jills the first lead of the game. Minutes later the Jills would add an insurance goal as
Samantha Scott buried the puck into the back of the net. The Jills continued to attack for the remainder of the period, but weren't able to add to their lead. They went into the first intermission up 2-0 over the Saints.
The Saints struck first in the second cutting the Jills lead down to 2-1. A little over a minute later the Saints would tie it up at 2-2. With seconds remaining on the clock the Saints would break the 2-2 tie and take a 3-2 lead over the Jills. The Jills created opportunities but wouldn't be able to score before the end of the period.
The Jills pressured the Saints early in the period, but weren't able to get on the board. With eight minutes elapsed in the third the Saints would be able to score a power play goal, giving themselves a 4-2 lead. The Saints would be able to add two more goals before the end of period. The Jills fell by a final score of 6-2.
Gabby Suhr recorded 32 saves on the night. The Jills tallied 24 shots in the match.
The Jills will be back in action 11/13 at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
