Scott Mayforth joins the Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding performance as a team player, as well as coach for the Northland College men's soccer team. Fifteen out of the eighteen years soccer has been a varsity sport at Northland Scott has been involved as a player or coach. Scott graduated from Northland College in 1987 with a B.S. in Marketing. While a student at Northland, Scott was a talented athlete and major asset to the men's soccer team from 1983-1986. Scott held the important position of team sweeper. He lettered each of the four years he played. In 1984 Scott was named to the National Championship All-Tournament First Team, a first for a Northland soccer player. During Scott's senior year he was named both Captain and M.C.O. of the men's soccer team, named Small College All American and NAIA First Team All-Region. Three of the four years Scott played, the team qualified for the national tournament, and was ranked third in the nation during Scott's sophomore year.

After graduation, Scott joined the team as assistant coach and after became head coach in 1991, taking the team to it first National Championship victory. In 1992, Scott moved to West Virginia and served as assistant soccer coach for Wesleyan for the 1992 and 1993 soccer seasons.

In 1994 Scott returned to Northland College and resumed the position of head soccer coach. Since his return Scott has taken the men's soccer team to new heights and in 1997 he inaugurated the first women's varsity soccer program.
