A 1955 graduate of Holy Name High School in Escanaba, Michigan, Bob played junior and senior hockey for the Escanaba Hawks. Prior to coming to Northland, Bob spent a semester at Western Michigan University, attended a baseball school in Florida and was offered a Rookie League contract with the New York (San Francisco) Giants baseball team.

Bob came to Northland in January of 1957 and led the Jacks hockey team in goal scoring and total points in their initial season. He graduated in 1963 - after a two-year military stint - as the leading goal scorer and point leader from Northland's early hockey period. And, his six points - three goals and three assists - are still a Northland College single game hockey record! Along with four years of hockey, Bob played four years of

baseball and batted over .300.

A Northland hockey captain for two seasons and an assistant for one, Bob went on to play ten years for the Fond du Lac Bears sextet in the Michigan/Wisconsin senior league. He was voted Outstanding Defenseman in the 1967-68 Wisconsin Senior A Hockey Tournament and twice played in national senior tournaments.

Bob was a graduate assistant at UW-Oshkosh in history in 1966-67 and received his MST degree in history in 1970. He had a thirty-year teaching career, primarily in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. While teaching he coached a variety of sports, both boys and girls teams, and was a head varsity high school coach in baseball and volleyball. He was the founder and president of the Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association in the early 1970s and coached hockey from the mite to adult levels. He is still active as a coach and player today!

He has strong interests today in backpacking, kayaking, long distance bike touring, and reading.
