Robert "Buzz" Brown graduated from Northland College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. A native of Marinette, Wisconsin, Brown participated in the Northland College community as a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, and member of the football and track teams. As an athlete, Brown lettered in each of the four years he played football and was a member of the track team. He received many honors and was a team leader in both sports. A multi-event performer in track, Brown set the school record for the javelin at 186 feet in 1966. During his football career at Northland, Brown was a three-year starter at quarterback. He set career and single season records for total yards passing, most passes attempted,

and most passes completed. He was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1966 and was named to the Sigma Tau Gamma All-American First Team following his senior year. As a result of his accomplishments at Northland College, Brown was signed to a contract with the Orlando Panthers in the Continental Football League after his graduation.

Brown has had a long career in Environmental Health. He served as the Senior Sanitarian for the Dane County Environmental Health Department for over 20 years and as a Natural Resource Specialist III for the Oregon Department Of Environmental Quality. He currently works for the Lake County Environmental Health Department in Illinois.

Brown has volunteered as a youth sports coach, at the Exchange Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, the Luke House Meals Program, and with the national Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker, Oregon. He and his wife Peggy have two children, Rebecca and Matthew. They live in Woodstock, Illinois.
