DeBraie, an outstanding end, "could be depended upon for picking long passes out of the air at uncomfortable times for the opposing team." In 1925 the team of Stuart McCune to DeBriae in the air along with the running of Harold Matthias (all Hall of Fame Members), played a major part in two late season victories. That year, Northland defeated a strong Superior Normal team and a tough Hibbing College, which was undefeated for over two years. DeBriae was a "good defensive as well as offensive player and couldn't be excelled as a pass catcher." He lettered three times in football and twice in basketball. An honor student, he served as basketball captain, President of Student Senate and Student Association and Wedge editor.
His career has been devoted to education, first as a coach and teacher and later as an administrator, serving as Principal of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until his retirement. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Arena - Auditorium and a Board Member of the Milwaukee Public Library from 1948-1966 - serving as President for 13 years. In 1963 the Wisconsin Library Association named
him "Trustee of the Year."
