Barry Casper brought excitement to Northland's wrestling program in the early 70's. As a freshman, he finished 6th in the NAIA Nationals in 1970-71. The next year he captured the national championship at 118 pounds in the NAIA tournament. In his last season of wrestling, Casper held ten school records. Every record he held, he broke at least once. Six of those school
records still stand, including most wins in one season, most
career points, and most predicaments in one season and career. He holds the school record for most pins in both the 118-pound class and the 126-pound class. His wrestling record was 62-4-0. He was named Most Valuable Wrestler at both the Lake Forest, Illinois and the Lawrence Invitational Tournaments for two
straight years, and at the Duluth Invitational Tournament. Casper
received his B.A. Degree in English in 1974. Today, he is the
Senior Territory Manager for the Hartmann Luggage Co. He and his wife Kathy '74 have two children and live in Springfield, Massachusetts.
